Preferred Lies

“Preferred Lies” will now be allowed everywhere in the “General Area”, for all official and unofficial (e.g. “Roll up“) competitions. 

This also includes the optional use of Winter Mats everywhere in the “General Area”. 

(As per the R&A, the "general area" in golf is defined as the entire course except for the teeing area, bunkers, penalty areas, and the putting green of the hole being played. This area includes the fairway, rough, and all other parts of the course, including wrong greens and all teeing locations on the course other than the one you are playing from).
